Why Cats Make Wonderful Companions

Now more than ever, cats have been great companions for humans. In fact—according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, about 25% of U.S. households have these adorable feline friends as their pets.

There’s no doubt why cats are a popular choice for pets. Not only are they adorable, but they can also provide amazing benefits and endless joy.

In this article, we’ve gathered four reasons cats make the absolute best pets.

1. Cats Are The Ideal Pets For Apartments
Cats don’t require space as much as you think. While you might assume that your pet cat should have a wide area to roam around as possible, here’s some breaking news: they don’t need a lot of space to thrive. They will be content and happy if they have all their essentials, such as litter boxes, food, and water dishes.
Cats love to hide in small spaces and climb on things where they feel safe and comfortable. That’s why if you are living in a small apartment with limited space, adopting a cat is an excellent idea.

2. Cats Groom Themselves
If you value cleanliness, cats are the perfect companion for you. Cats have a reputation for being self-cleaning machines. They can easily clean and groom themselves with their naturally barbed tongues, paws, and teeth.
Amazing, right? There’s no doubt why they usually feel softer and cleaner than any other animals when you pet them.

3. They’ll Keep Your House Pest-Free
Cats can effectively eliminate unwanted pests because they are natural-born hunters. It’s in their nature to hunt their prey. Additionally, cats release a chemical that keeps the pests from entering your home. This known chemical can be found in a cat’s saliva, which allows the mice to smell your cat’s presence and they will stay away from your home.

4. Cats Are Low-Maintenance
Did you know that cats can take care of themselves? Yes, just like other pets, cats can form close bonds with their fur parents, but they don’t suffer from separation anxiety in the same way dogs do. In short, they do not need their owners to make them feel secure and safe. Plus, you can easily litter train them and you don’t have to take them out in the middle of the night if they want to do their business.

Moreover, cats usually sleep for about 12-16 hours per day, so you don’t have to worry about them getting bored when you are at work.
